Summary

There is no limit to the lies, suspicion, and secrets that can poison the perfect marriage in this twisting novel of suspense by USA Today bestselling author Kaira Rouda。

Kate Nelson had it all。 A flourishing company founded with her husband, John; a happy marriage; and a daughter, Ashlyn。 The picture-perfect family。 Until John left for another woman。 Tish is half his age。 Ambitious。 She’s cultivated a friendship with Ashlyn。 Tish believes she’s won。

She’s wrong。

Tish Nelson has it all。 Youth, influence, a life of luxury, and a new husband。 But the truth is, there’s a lot of baggage。 Namely, his first wife—and suspicions of his infidelity。 After all, that’s how she got John。 Maybe it’s time for a romantic getaway, far from his vindictive ex。 If Kate plans on getting John back, Tish is one step ahead of her。

She thinks。

But what happens next is something neither Kate nor Tish saw coming。 As best-laid plans come undone, there’s no telling what a woman will do in the name of love—and revenge。

Keeps you guessing I gave this book 5 stars because until the epilogue I still just wasn’t sure who done it。 Lol Each of the characters was interesting and the author did a great job developing them and keeping you guessing which one was the most screwed up。 Anyone who figures out the plot of every story, this is the book for you。 Fun read that keeps your mind spinning。

The Next Wife is a thriller with some comedy telling the story of two women, their husband/ex husband, and the daughter。 This book alternates between the perspectives of the four main characters: John Nelson (cofounder of EventCo, husband, and father), Ashlyn Nelson (daughter), Tish Nelson (second wife), and Kate Nelson (cofounder of EventCo, first wife, and mother)。 The perspectives focus on alternating primarily between the first and second Mrs。 Nelson。 There's a lot of fun plot points with th The Next Wife is a thriller with some comedy telling the story of two women, their husband/ex husband, and the daughter。 This book alternates between the perspectives of the four main characters: John Nelson (cofounder of EventCo, husband, and father), Ashlyn Nelson (daughter), Tish Nelson (second wife), and Kate Nelson (cofounder of EventCo, first wife, and mother)。 The perspectives focus on alternating primarily between the first and second Mrs。 Nelson。 There's a lot of fun plot points with the various tropes of a first wife and a much younger second wife。 The perspective shifting sets up the Mrs。 Nelson vs Mrs, Nelson quite nicely。 This was a quick read for me and I was hooked pretty early on。 Very bingeworthy drama with more humor than is typical for a thriller。 It's a bit of a soap opera, but in a fun way with various flawed characters。 I caught a hint early on and predicted a twist later in the book。 I respect authors who make their twists solvable as opposed to preposterous from the reader's view。 Thank you to Netgalley and Mercer for providing me a Kindle copy in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

This was just。。。 not very good。 I’m honestly shocked by all the high reviews。 I couldn’t stand all the whining and did not relate to or like any of the characters。 It was also very predictable and boring。 I knew “who dunnit” and what was going to happen about halfway through。 It was a quick read, but I don’t recommend it。

Easy read but very predictable

Couldn't put it downSeemingly ditzy and shallow second wife Tish Nelson thinks she has it made when she lures her boss, EventCo CEO John Nelson, away from his first wife who helped him build a very successful business。 Three devious women-first wife Kate, daughter Ashley, and second wife Trish, engage in a battle of wills over who will take charge of the company after John's death。 Couldn't put it downSeemingly ditzy and shallow second wife Tish Nelson thinks she has it made when she lures her boss, EventCo CEO John Nelson, away from his first wife who helped him build a very successful business。 Three devious women-first wife Kate, daughter Ashley, and second wife Trish, engage in a battle of wills over who will take charge of the company after John's death。 。。。more

A forgettable novel。 All of the characters are irritating, self-centered, and superficial。 Everyone (nearly) lives miserably ever after。

2。5 stars。 I was ready to mark this down as a DNF title, but pushed through。 The writing wasn’t great; I felt like I was constantly being talked through the characters thoughts instead of seeing actions take place to tell the story。 A lot of the writing felt redundant and repetitive。 Didn’t like any of the characters。 I had an inkling to the ending early on and felt that even the shocking climax at the end was a bit lackluster。 Not the best thriller if that’s one of your favorite genres。

Good story, little scattered。

This book was good, not my usual read。 It was a bit repetitive but had some nice twists。Definitely worth reading。

Ramakant Pande

A fast paced thriller and moreover, the story of three women- a former wife, a daughter and a current wife and the man at the centre who dies mysteriously of a cardiac arrest。 A good novel for a summer weekend。

Fabulous plotThis is a very engaging story。 It kept me guessing what will be next。 It has a great plot with an amazing twist at the end。 When love turns to hate , it is a terrible thing。

Oh the twists and turnThis author is new to me, but this series was as filled with passion deception an suspense。 The characters fit well together and the plot was oh so interesting。 It was an easy 5 star from me

I am very to partial to any books by Kaira Rouda and once again this was no exception。 Great story with a strong plot that held my attention all the way through。 Loved the characters, they very much enhanced the story as I enjoyed reading about them, their personalities and response to the situation they are in。 am very much looking forward to the next offering。 Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book。 Another five star read。

Melissa

A very quick easy read that was entertaining but not thrilling。 I had hoped for more and expected more per so many good reviews I had read, but it was a bit simple for me。Thanks to NetGalley for the ebook and this is my honest review。

3。65 Mrs。 Nelson vs Mrs。 Nelson…basically who can outplay who! The women battle it out ( Kate, Ashley and Trish ) when a simple story of love turns deadly。 It was an enjoyable quick read , even funny at times, as a perfect marriage goes bad。 I did like the ending。

Katie

Waste of time I couldn’t even get past 50% of this book, mainly because it felt like it was written by a 12 year old。 Also, somehow I simultaneously hated the characters, even though there was little character development。 The plot also felt very 2 dimensional, and I kept waiting for sometime to actually happen。

Now, that was a plot twist indeed。 I can't deny I was shocked and I never ever expected it, but I'm not sure this is because the author is genius。 The rest of the book was absolutely boring and had nothing at all to offer。 So, for me, the difficult part, the genius part, would be if she could make the whole book intriguing with that ending being the cherry on top。 Otherwise, it just seems like she had already figured out the ending and that's that, we have a book ready。 That's not how it works, Now, that was a plot twist indeed。 I can't deny I was shocked and I never ever expected it, but I'm not sure this is because the author is genius。 The rest of the book was absolutely boring and had nothing at all to offer。 So, for me, the difficult part, the genius part, would be if she could make the whole book intriguing with that ending being the cherry on top。 Otherwise, it just seems like she had already figured out the ending and that's that, we have a book ready。 That's not how it works, unfortunately for this lovely author :) 。。。more

I wanted a quick thriller and that's what I got。 The writing was very simplistic and not my favorite, so I'm not sure if/when I'll read another of her books。 I completely predicted the whole thing and expected more twists。 All in all, it got the job done to help me get a little back on track with my reading。 Can't complain that much。 I wanted a quick thriller and that's what I got。 The writing was very simplistic and not my favorite, so I'm not sure if/when I'll read another of her books。 I completely predicted the whole thing and expected more twists。 All in all, it got the job done to help me get a little back on track with my reading。 Can't complain that much。 。。。more

I liked the way the author presented each character。 It was a quick read。

Karen Johnson

This entire story could have taken 75% less time to tell。 It just dragged on with many repeat phrases and thoughts used by the characters。 Should have been a short story。 Very underwhelming。

Linda Irwin

Fun readAn enjoyable summer story of betrayal and revenge。 The plot has lots of twists and leaves the reader assuming facts that are not correct。
